HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Henrico County Police Division is now investigating a Tuesday night shooting on Nine Mile Road as a homicide. At approximately 7:08 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3, Henrico Police received a report of a shooting at a business in the 5100 block of Nine Mile Road. According to police, when officers arrived at the scene, they saw what was described as a "potential crime scene." However, they could not find a victim or suspect. Officers soon discovered that the victim, 55-year-old James Albert Brandon of Henrico, was at a nearby hospital, receiving treatment for life-threatening injuries from a gunshot wound. He later died. 57-year-old woman dead after Henrico crash, fourth pedestrian killed on Brook Road this year A police spokesperson told 8News that how Brandon arrived at the hospital could not be confirmed as of the time of reporting. However, he was not taken there by ambulance. According to police, investigators quickly identified 64-year-old Tony Mario Johnson of Richmond as a suspect. He was found driving along Peter Paul Boulevard near Fairfield Avenue. Officers initiated a traffic stop and took him into custody without incident. "With this incident now being investigated as a homicide, additional charges are pending against Johnson," the spokesperson said.
