PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — When you walk into Los Andes, you're immediately transported to South America. That unique atmosphere has always been where owner Cesin Curi has thrived. "It's definitely a destination place where people have learned to come see our culture, taste our culture and hear our culture," Curi said. Los Andes, named after a mountain range that runs through South America, was established nearly two decades ago by three brothers, including Curi, who immigrated from Cochobamba, Bolivia, with their parents in pursuit of the American dream. "I'm very grateful to them for showing us that work ethic," he said of his parents. "You come and you do, and then you don't put your head down until it's done. That's what the American dream is about — working as hard as you can and believing in what you can achieve." Curi said Los Andes not only serves Bolivian and Peruvian cuisine, but also Argentinian and other South American dishes as well. Even though Providence is miles away from South America, Curi has made it his mission to bring those cultures and traditions to the Ocean State. "It’s heartwarming because of the support that we get from our community," Curi said. "Every single culture is what makes this place unique. It's the diversity of our clientele."
