Offduty homicide detective fatally shoots man in Northeast Philly, police say

An off-duty detective fatally shot a 54-year-old man after they each stopped their cars at an intersection in Northeast Philadelphia late Thursday night, police said. Investigators said the detective shot the man as he approached his car at Willits Road and Holme Avenue in Academy Gardens. The detective's name has not been released.
