OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - The 38th annual Greek Festival is in full swing at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Oklahoma City. "We want everyone to experience what it's like to be Greek for a day, or two or three," said Irene Gianos, a church member. LOCAL NEWS: Mythical creatures of Pumpkinville coming to Oklahoma City Friday morning, people were already in line at the Greek Festival at St. George Greek Orthodox Church to immerse themselves in Greek culture. "People come year after year," said Gianos. It's a three day festival with live music, entertainment, shopping, cocktails and of course some good eats. Gianos gave News 4 a taste test, including savory pastries. "This is Spanakopita," said Gianos. "Spinach and cheese is filled up inside." "This one is Tiropita, this is all cheese. And it's a blend of feta and other cheeses as well," she said. "The layers of phyllo dough are all buttery and flakey and it's just so divine." Then, we moved on to what really draws people in, the sweet treats. "These are called Loukoumades, and they are called honey puffs," she said. "They are like little fried donut holes." Of course, you'll find all the favorites. You can even take some ingredients home if you stop by the grocery store Gianos' parents started inside the church, with good imported from Greece. "The olive oil, it is imported from Greece," said Tasia Verentas, Gianos' mother. "This is the only thing I cook with."
