NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Leaders at Nexstar Media are doing their part to assist in recovery efforts following Hurricane Helene.
The storm left behind a trail of devastation especially in North and South Carolina.
In partnership with the American Red Cross, Nexstar has created a site where those wanting to donate, can visit and contribute to relief efforts.
Asheville North Carolina was found to be the hardest-hit area during the storm, with flooding and landslides being the end result.

The storm's death toll reached over 200 with many more individuals left unaccounted for.
One New Orleans woman who moved to Asheville said the storm was similar, if not worse than Hurricane Katrina.
“I think the watershed hit like 38, 35 feet, and it hasn’t receded all that much. What has receded is similar to [Hurricane] Katrina, what we experienced during Katrina, is people just have feet of mud in their homes, and things have been washed away and watermarks everywhere,” said Izzy Cropp.
She said a long road to recovery is ahead of them but knows the people of Louisiana can relate and have sympathy.
Anyone looking to donate can visit the American Red Cross website. So far, 1,900 hundred people have contributed over $200,000.
