MILWAUKEE A man is dead after an armed standoff with police officers near 68th and Hope in Milwaukee on Friday.In a media briefing, Milwaukee Police Chief Jeffrey Norman said officers were called to the area around 8:30 a.m. for reports of a shooting."I heard a lot of gunshots going off, somebody emptied the clip basically," neighbor, Angelique Gonzales explained. Upon arrival, police say three victims jumped off a second-story porch to escape the home. One of the victims, who had multiple gunshot wounds, was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.Two of the victims made their way to Gonzales's house."I go to the front and it's two young ladies and theyre trying to get into the house to find ya know shelter," Gonzales said. As officers assisted the victims, an armed man emerged from the home. Officers ordered him to drop his weapon, but he did not comply. An officer then fired at the suspect, who retreated back into the home. His firearm was found next to his body.The officer who fired at the suspect is a 28-year-old with three years of service. He has been placed on administrative duty while the incident is under investigation.No one else was injured by gunfire during the standoff.The Brookfield Police Department will lead the investigation, as it is standard policy to have an external agency investigate when a police officer is involved in a shooting.Its about time to watch on your time.
