MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A man is now facing attempted murder charges after police say he fired shots at a car full of people including a pregnant woman in a South Memphis apartment complex back in August. Marquez Johnson, 26, is charged with four counts of criminal attempt second-degree murder, four counts of employment of a firearm with intent to commit a felony, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, and reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon. ORIGINAL STORY: Double shooting injures 2; another victim injured trying to flee Marquez Johnson (SCSO) On August 31, Memphis Police say they were initially called to a shooting at 888 Kerr Avenue. However, police say the four victims were found in a vehicle at a fire station on 2034 South Lauderdale Street. After one of the victims realized they had been hit by gunfire, she reportedly drove them to the fire station. Three victims were struck and taken to the hospital in non-critical condition. Police say the fourth victim was not hit by gunfire, but went to the hospital to be evaluated because she's pregnant. The victim who was driving gave another statement to police while at the hospital saying it all started when she was called to pick up one of the other victims due to them being involved with some people from the apartment complex. FBI involved in Hernando, MS shooting Once the victim arrived at the complex with two other victims, a large group gathered and an argument began. That is when a man she knows as "J Blood" allegedly starts a physical fight with one of the victims. After the fight, the four victims got in the car and a man known as "Bug Money" started shooting at them from across the street, police say. According to reports, officers say "Bug Money" was identified as Marquez Johnson, after they searched the police database. Police say video also captured Johnson firing shots at the victims with several other people directly in the line of fire. 4 critically injured in Cordova, South Memphis shooting The victim was able to positively identify Johnson in a six-person photo lineup as the man responsible for the shooting. Marquez Johnson is held in jail on a $1,000,000 bond and is due in court Monday morning. In 2019, Johnson was found to be a convicted felon in possession of a controlled substance with intent to manufacture/deliver/sell - marijuana. He also had a felony conviction on April 17 for the same charge.
