INDIANAPOLIS – Anthony Richardson hasn’t been ruled out of the Indianapolis Colts’ Sunday road test at Jacksonville. Neither has he been cleared to start. “We’ll see,’’ coach Shane Steichen said after Friday’s practice. Richardson suffered an oblique injury in Sunday’s win over the Pittsburgh Steelers and practiced on a limited basis this week. Joe Flacco ran the No. 1 offense in practice and would start against the Jaguars if the Colts decide to hold Richardson out. ‘The Streak’: The Indianapolis Colts’ unrelenting problems in Jacksonville It’s uncertain if Richardson was given any work with the starting unit. He threw leisurely during the portion of practice open to the media. “He was limited this week,’’ Steichen said. Did the coaching and medical staff see enough of Richardson this week to determine whether he would be able to handle the dual-threat aspects of his game? “Yeah, he was limited during the week,’’ Steichen said. “We’ll see.’’ While Richardson’s status is uncertain, Steichen ruled out running back Jonathan Taylor (ankle), defensive end Kwity Paye (quad) and cornerback Kenny Moore II (hip). None of those three practiced this week. Center Ryan Kelly also was held out of this week’s work with a neck injury, along with the last two days last week leading up to the Pittsburgh game. As is the case with Richardson, Steichen said “we’ll see’’ regarding Kelly’s availability. PREVIOUSLY: Colts’ E.J. Speed closing in on NFL tackle mark Richardson’s situation carries huge ramifications. He brings a diverse skill set to the offense while Flacco is primarily a pocket passer. If Flacco makes his first start as a Colt, he would do so without Taylor, arguably the offense’s top player. “It’ll be running back-by-committee,’’ Steichen said. Trey Sermon and Tyler Goodson are in line to carry the run-game workload with Taylor out. Flacco, 39 and the third-oldest quarterback to play for the Colts, replaced Richardson late in the first quarter and helped finish the 27-24 win over the Steelers. He passed for 168 yards and touchdowns to Drew Ogletree and Josh Downs. To some degree, the Colts have prepared for either Richardson or Flacco to start Sunday. “You go through that process as a staff, working through those things all week,’’ Steichen said. “Obviously have to get prepared for both guys.’’ You can follow Mike Chappell on Twitter at @mchappell51.
