HONOLULU (KHON2) -- Starting October 7, 2024, the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations (DLIR) will implement new online tools for employers through the State Information Data Exchange System (SIDES), developed in partnership with the National Association of State Workforce Agencies (NASWA) and the U.S. Department of Labor. Get Hawaii's latest morning news delivered to your inbox, sign up for News 2 You SIDES is a web-based system designed to help employers respond to unemployment insurance (UI) claims quickly and securely. “SIDES is an innovative online platform that streamlines the exchange of information between the DLIR and employers,” said DLIR Director Jade T. Butay. “We’re enhancing efficiency and reliability while developing a new platform to replace the legacy application.” Registered employers can access SIDES using a single sign-on feature through the web portal. Duke’s Ukes competition returns to Kahala Mall This secure solution aims to reduce errors, prevent fraud, and improve accuracy in managing UI claims. “The DLIR is proud to partner with employers to offer this solution that simplifies the unemployment insurance process,” said UI Administrator Anne Perreira-Eustaquio. “SIDES allows employers to focus on their core operations, knowing that their claims management is efficient.” SIDES will be available in two formats: SIDES E-Response: For employers with a limited number of claims, this software-free system allows for electronic receipt and response to information requests. SIDES System Integration: Designed for Third-Party Administrators (TPAs), Professional Employer Organizations (PEOs), or multi-state employers, this advanced tool connects to model software for managing larger volumes of UI claims.
