Most people may remember the movie "Freaky Friday," starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan. Get Hawaii's latest morning news delivered to your inbox, sign up for News 2 You There’s also "Freaky Friday the Musical" that is making its Hawaii debut at Mo’olelo Performing Arts Studios, in partnership with Sacred Hearts Academy. The popular musical is about a mother and daughter, Katherine and Ellie, who magically and inadvertently switch bodies for a day. The story takes place over the course of one chaotic and mysterious freaky Friday, as Katherine and Ellie experience life from each other’s perspectives. What follows is a valuable lesson in understanding, empathy and the importance of family. ‘It’s a great hike for pet owners wanting an adventure’: Hawaiʻi hikes "Freaky Friday the Musical" features Tori Anguay De La Cruz as Katherine Blake, Caris Leong as Ellie Blake, Sammy Houghtailing as Adam, Royce Caracol as Fletcher Blake, Poasa Aga as Mike, and Sage Nguyen as Torrey, in addition to local performers and students. Hawaii Premiere of “Freaky Friday the Musical” Takes the Stage for Final Weekend The Mo’olelo production also features state of the art technology and special effects. The show is headed by veteran director Kyle Kakuno with technical direction by Kainoa Jarrett, musical direction by Judy Yoshioka, choreography by Ku’ulei Kekoa, set design by Nigyl Nissan, lighting design by Richard Powersurge, audio design/engineer Steve Nelson.
