(NEXSTAR) – JetBlue passengers on the airline’s longer flights may be feeling a little iced-out by the carrier’s current menu choices. Passengers flying economy (or “core,” as JetBlue calls it) no longer have the option of a hot meal on transatlantic flights, as indicated by JetBlue’s latest available online menus. All four current transatlantic dining menus also now include a note: “All items served chilled." Is flying on a Tuesday cheaper? Testing 3 TikTok flight hacks A representative for JetBlue said the current menu — developed in partnership with the restaurant chain Dig — had a “trial run” on its flights to Ireland and Scotland this summer before being implemented on all transatlantic flights. “The menu, created in partnership with DIG, lives up to the standard we set for high-quality meals,” a representative for JetBlue shared with Nexstar in an emailed statement. “This change is part of our effort to ensure we can continue to provide a great experience at JetBlue’s competitive fares on these routes.” A representative for JetBlue suggested the new in-flight transatlantic menu for economy passengers was developed, in part, to "ensure we can continue to provide a great experience at JetBlue’s competitive fares on these routes." (Angus Mordant/Bloomberg via Getty Images Selections from JetBlue’s transatlantic menus include items traditionally served chilled anyway — such as overnight oats and yogurt for breakfast, or pasta salad and cold soba noodles for lunch or dinner — along with items traditionally served hot — like its breakfast frittata or buffalo cauliflower. Passengers flying transatlantic in JetBlue’s business-class Mint section, meanwhile, can still order hot meals including pizza, pasta, chicken, eggs, crepes and even warmed rolls, depending on the route. On previous JetBlue menus, core passengers traveling to the U.K. or Europe were treated to their choice of protein and two hot or chilled sides, per an earlier press release announcing JetBlue's partnership with Dig. The airline was also touting a jerk chicken option as recently as March. (It should also be noted that select transatlantic JetBlue flights did not previously serve hot meals due to limitations on ovens on certain aircraft, as noted by travel sites Live and Let's Fly and One Mile at a Time, the former of which had first reported on JetBlue's new menus.) JetBlue’s transatlantic service — which includes daily flights to the U.K. and Europe — includes a single meal and a “pre-arrival light bite” for all passengers. Mint members are additionally offered meals on coast-to-coast flights as well as flights to Canada, the Caribbean and Latin America. Core passengers on select flights are also offered a selection of free snacks and drinks, with the ability to purchase larger snack boxes or café items.
