CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Organizations from near and far are pitching in to help those looking to move forward from Helene. WCCB News was on scene as the Gaston County Family YMCA  sent a truckload to those in need. Those supplies were sent to YMCA locations in Asheville and Linville. In a statement Gaston County YMCA CEO Sharon Padgett wrote, “The emotional trauma, mental health challenges, and physical and spiritual toll of this disaster will leave lasting scars. But the YMCA is here for the long haul, committed to healing mind, body, and spirit. Though our neighbors are shaken, they are not broken.
