A recent study by QRFY looked at the language used in IMDb reviews to find the most upsetting films. Some keywords used were sad, crying, heartbreaking, tears, gutwrenching and sobbing. According to the data, "Grave of the Fireflies" was the most upsetting movie with sad language being used 134 times in reviews. "A Walk to Remember" and "The Iron Claw" tied for seventh place, according to the study. Both films included upsetting language 75 times. "The Iron Claw" is based on the true story of the Von Erich brothers, who made history in the competitive world of professional wrestling in the early 1980s. Zac Efron leads the film with Jeremy Allen White, Harris Dickinson, Lily James and others. The movie was filmed in Baton Rouge and came out in 2023.
