AUSTIN (KXAN) -- With the Monday voter registration deadline looming, Williamson County elections administrator Bridgette Escobedo and Travis County tax assessor-collector and voter registrar Bruce Elfant shared tips for those still trying to get registered for the November election. Escobedo recommends hand delivering registration forms instead of mailing them to ensure they are postmarked by the deadline. "I don’t recommend that you drop it in the mail at this point," she said. Bruce Elfant, Travis County tax assessor-collector and voter registrar, also said not to put registration applications in the mail and to instead visit an in person drop off location. For Travis County voters still trying to register on Monday, tax offices will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thundercloud Sub locations in Travis County will be open until 8 p.m. and various coffee shops will be open until midnight. “There's all kinds of ways that people can register and update their address at literally, the very last minute,” Elfant said. “What we want to discourage people from doing is mailing their application at this late date, because they may not get a timely postmark, and if they don't have a timely postmark, they won't be registered for this election.” Travis County voters can check if their registration is up to date at votetravis.com. For Williamson County voters, there will be a curbside voter registration event Monday at the Williamson County elections office, located at 301 Southeast Inner Loop. It will be open until 7 p.m. to assist voters, for registration drop off and to check voters' registration status. In order to fill out a registration application, eligible voters will need to list basic information including their full name, address and either their driver’s license number or the last four digits of their social security number. Williamson County has seen increases in registered voters over recent years. In 2020, 376,672 voters were registered, and in 2022, 415,096 voters were registered, according to the Texas Secretary of State’s website. The county currently has over 440,000 registered voters, according to their website. "We’ve had a steady increase, and we couldn’t be more happy about it," Escobedo said.
