65-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck by Scooter near Westmoreland Avenue KOREATOWN, CA (October 4, 2024) – Donny Kim was fatally struck early Thursday night, in a hit-and-run pedestrian crash on James M Wood Boulevard. The incident occurred at approximately 4:45 p.m., at the 2800 block of James M Wood Boulevard near Westmorelane Avenue on September 12th. According to investigators, 65-year-old Kim and his wife were walking on the sidewalk when Kim stepped out and was struck by a woman riding an electric scooter. He fell and hit his head on the pavement. Though Kim initially declined medical assistance, he later exhibited signs of trauma and was taken to a hospital. A week later, he was declared brain-dead and subsequently removed from life support. The woman involved in the collision did not remain at the scene. Police described her as riding a Lime scooter and wearing a pink shirt. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities will press charges once she is identified.
