(KSNW) -- A portion of Kansas Highway 96 has been renamed to honor a Haven man who died in the Vietnam War. Army Pfc. Henry Lee Fisher served with Company B, 2nd Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, fighting on the front lines in the Bình Dương province. He was killed in action on June 18, 1967, less than 30 days after his 20th birthday. School bus flat tire leads to fire, 30 students evacuated His nephew, Jake Feil, says although his uncle's name had been honored in other small ways around Haven, he wanted to do something bigger. Feil contacted his state legislator, Rep. Joe Seiwert, who helped to pass legislation that included the new designation. The section of the K-96 highway from the eastern to the western city limits of Haven is now designated as the PFC Henry Lee Fisher Memorial Highway. Fisher's family is hosting a dedication ceremony for the new signs that will be installed to mark the highway. The ceremony will take place from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, in the Neal Family Learning Center at the Kansas Cosmosphere, 1100 N. Plum St., in Hutchinson. Space for the event is limited.
