JackOLantern Spectacular returns to Roger Williams Zoo with trivia fun
Oct 04, 2024
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Roger Williams Park Zoo is bringing back its Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular for 2024, with a brand-new theme to keep people involved on their trek through.
Five thousand pumpkins are spread out across Roger William’s annual Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular.
The brand new trivia theme is giving visitors another reason to return for the 36th year.
“I’m the type of person, if I’ve seen something once or twice, I’ve been there, done that. But I think changing the theme’s up maintains the interest for the show and people come back every year,” said founder, John Reckner.
“The team starts crafting ideas at the start of the year, and work really hits a fever pitch around August,” he said.
“I mean, I think it gets easier though right? I mean the more you do it, the better you get. It’s like anything else,” said pumpkin carver, Jon Carver.
“Yeah, so you get a Renaissance section which is fantastic, because you get to go pull off those like great masterworks. And you do your best to do it honor and put it on a pumpkin!” said Carver.
The event is open from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., every night through November 2.
“If you told me 36 years ago, crowds just continue to get bigger,” said Reckner.
“I just think the artistry get better every year,” he said.
Tickets are now available online.
