PPAC holding community food drive on Saturday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) is hosting a food drive this weekend, and anyone who donates will get a "special pricing offer" to see the Tony Award-winning musical comedy Shucked.
The food drive is to benefit We Share Hope. On Saturday, Oct. 5, the nonprofit will be collecting donations outside the theater from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
While all nonperishable food items are welcome, PPAC said the following items are needed the most:
Canned vegetables (like corn) and fruit
Peanut butter
Chunky soups and beef stew
Pasta, pasta sauce, and macaroni & cheese
Rice
Dry or canned beans
Canned meat (tuna, ham, chicken, etc.)
Shucked will kick off its national tour at PPAC on Sunday, Oct. 20, through Sunday, Oct. 27.
According to PPAC, the special offer will be valid for tickets to the Sunday and Tuesday evening shows, which can be purchased at the box office window, by phone at (401) 421-ARTS (2787) and online.
