ISP K9 Apache retiring

INDIANAPOLIS — On Tuesday, a member of the Indiana State Police is retiring. However, it's not the usual type that dons a badge and uniform. It's someone who wears a fur coat, four paws and a tail to work every day.
On Friday, ISP announced that their K9 Apache is heading into retirement. This will commence via a special ceremony for the German Shepherd, where Apache will conduct a drug sniff at a training site.

Once the dog finds the drugs, ISP said each K9 handler will throw him a tennis ball, culminating in about 15 to 20 tennis balls flying through the air at one time.
ISP also added that Apache will receive a final 10-42 broadcast: a call to dispatch indicating an officer is ending their tour of duty.
This event will take place almost exactly seven years after Apache suffered a gunshot wound to the neck in a police-action shooting. Thankfully, the pooch completely recovered and is entering his retirement in full health.
