(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The 2024 Colorado Springs Veterans Day Parade has been canceled "due to a lack of participants," according to the event's website. FOX21 News first learned of the possible cancelation after a viewer reached out after receiving a 'Notice of Cancelation.' FOX21 reached out to the City of Colorado Springs on Thursday, Oct. 3 and Chief Communications Officer Vanessa Zink confirmed, that the Mayor's Office received a voicemail about the cancelation on Thursday with the caller citing low participation as the reason. On the event's website, a banner at the top reads: "The parade has been canceled due to a lack of participants." Below the website's main banner, another headline reads: "2024 Colorado Springs Veterans Day Parade is canceled." The Veterans Day Parade has been around since 2000 and is held each year, "To honor all veterans and to educate and inspire community awareness while paying tribute to the service and sacrifices veterans have endured in the pursuit of freedom for our country." FOX21 has reached out to a board member for the Veterans Day Parade for more information and will update this article once we hear back.
