BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) - Pop-up pink pumpkin patches at three Baton Rouge General locations are back for its Breast Cancer Awareness Month Protect Your Pumpkins campaign. The campaign promotes annual mammograms for women ages 40 and over, according to BRG. The pink pumpkins can be found on the Bluebonnet, Mid City and Ascension campuses. Anyone can stop by and take one of the pink pumpkins for free. Additional pumpkins can be purchased for $10. The pumpkins used in this campaign are known as “Porcelain Doll” pumpkins. "Only about 50 farms across the country grow these pink pumpkins, which are part of a national campaign launched in 2012 to encourage people to show unity in the fight to find a cure," BRG said. If you stop by Baton Rouge General's Bluebonnet location, you will find more than just pink pumpkins. This location will have a 15-foot inflatable pink pumpkin, pink balloons, caricature drawings, a vintage truck and food and drink. People can try pink lemonade, Ravasio’s Italian ice, and Posh Pop will be selling pink-themed gourmet popcorn.
