ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Happy Friday! You've made it to the end of the week! Skies will continue to clear throughout the morning hours, leaving us with mostly clear skies. Temperatures will gradually start to warm up, getting into the low 70s for highs. Clouds start to move back into the area throughout the late afternoon hours ahead of a cold front. We don't see much rain out of this front, as it doesn't start to spark showers and storms until reaching Central New York. For us, an isolated shower or two is expected. Otherwise, we stay mostly cloudy throughout the overnight hours, which may not give us the best display of northern lights. UPDATE: NOAA adjusts timing for seeing the northern lights From the cold front that passed through Friday evening, our wind direction will turn northerly for Saturday, which will keep us on the cooler side. Otherwise, you can expect an abundance of sunshine with high temperatures only reaching the mid 60s. We will stay clear into the overnight hours, which will allow for our temperatures to drop into the low to mid 40s. Wind direction will change from a northerly flow to a southerly flow during those overnight hours. We start off clear for Sunday morning with temperatures quickly rising up into the low to mid 70s. Another cold front is expected to move through the area during the evening hours, but unlike tonight's, this front is expected to bring some downpours and even a few rumbles of thunder. Skies will not clear for the overnight hours, allowing us to stay in the 50s for lows. Scattered showers remain in the area to start off the work week with much cooler temperatures. Those showers are expected for both Monday and Tuesday. Monday's high temperatures will stay in the low 60s but will drop into the upper 50s for Tuesday's highs. Our average high temperature for this time of the year is right around the 66 degree mark, so we are looking at below average temperatures for both days. Those pesky scattered showers will linger into Wednesday with high temperatures still sticking in the upper 50s. Alas, the wet weather moves out of the area for the second half of the week. For both Thursday and Friday, you can expect an mixture of sun and clouds with temperatures rising into the low to mid 60s. It will overall be a nice way to end the week. 8-Day Forecast An early look to next weekend looks promising. Dry weather is expected to persist on with temperatures hovering right around average for this time of year. Remember, we are still about a week out from then, so there could be some changes that may need to be made. Let's enjoy the weekend at hand before worrying about the next!
