INDIANAPOLIS – The Savannah Bananas’ 2025 season doesn’t include a return trip to Victory Field. The barnstorming baseball team held a “draft” Thursday night to announce its 2025 schedule. Indianapolis didn’t make the cut. The traveling franchise, known for energetic and wacky baseball antics, stopped at The Vic in 2023 and 2024, but Indianapolis isn’t on the 2025 list. All three games played in Indy sold out last year. That means local fans will have to travel elsewhere to see the team and its unique rules. The Bananas have games in St. Louis (Busch Stadium on April 4 and April 5), Cincinnati (Great American Ball Park on June 13 and June 14) and Chicago (Guaranteed Rate Field on Aug. 15 and Aug. 16). Overall, the Bananas will play in 18 major league stadiums, with stops at New York’s Yankee Stadium, Baltimore’s Camden Yards and Boston's Fenway Park among them. The team will also make appearances at three football venues: Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium (home of the Carolina Panthers), Clemson’s Death Valley (home of the Clemson Tigers) and Nashville’s Nissan Stadium (home of the Tennessee Titans). The football stadiums pose some unique challenges—their dimensions are tight for a baseball field. The Bananas will install netting to make sure teams can’t cash in on “cheap” home runs. Team owner Jesse Cole pointed out that the 50-foot-high netting will be taller than the famed Green Monster at Boston’s Fenway Park. Expect the Bananas to milk some humor out of it. “In Banana Ball, we like to make things a little different,” Cole told The Associated Press. “We're going to have fun with it.” The Bananas drew more than 1 million fans in 2024. They aim to bring in 2 million fans in 2025, and having games at MLB and NFL venues should help the cause. Find the 2025 schedule here and register for the ticket lottery here.
