SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- The San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance will once again have a float for the 136th Rose Parade on New Year's Day. The 2025 parade float will commemorate Asia's diverse ecosystems with intricate designs of the zoo's newest residents: giant pandas Yun Chuan and Xin Bao from China. They are the first pandas to enter the U.S. in 21 years. On Aug. 8, now designated as "California Panda Day" by Gov. Gavin Newsom, the panda pair made their public debut at the San Diego Zoo in a historic moment of diplomacy between the U.S. and China. Earlier this year, San Diego Zoo received top honors for its 2024 float themed "It Began With a Roar," which celebrated its 107-year history.
