NEWBERRY, SC (WOLO) — It’s been almost a week since Hurricane Helene made landfall. Yet her destruction path through South Carolina is still being felt with 41 confirmed deaths, 21 confirmed tornadoes and more than 3,500 damaged homes.  Cleanup in South Carolina continues, yet for some of the Palmetto State’s farmers, the damage has already been done. Infrastructure has also taken a big hit when it comes to power outages, with hundreds of thousands of the state’s residents still in the dark as of Thursday afternoon.  SCDOT reports that more than 300 routes remain closed statewide. Returning to normal might take a while for those in Newberry County where 36 percent of Dominion Energy customers are without power as of Thursday evening. Schools in the county have been closed all week, but the work has continued. Categories: Lexington, Local News, Newberry, News, Richland Tags: Governor Henry McMaster
