Richland Co., SC (WOLO) — The Richland County Sheriff’s Department arrested a man being charged in connection to a shooting that took place last month in the 500 block of Longtown Road. Authorities say 22 year old Kenyon Peters was taken into custody by the Richland County Fugitive Task Force in Elgin without incident.
RCSD has charged Peters with Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime and Assault and Battery of High and Aggravated Nature. The charges stem from an incident deputies say they were called to September 25 just before 7pm. Officials say when they arrived they found two men lying on the ground, both suffering from gunshot wounds. EMS took both of the men to an area hospital for them to be treated for their injuries.
According to investigators, the two acquaintances started arguing when the altercation became physical just before deputies say one of the two pulled out a gun and started shooting at the other. Deputies say the second man then went to grab his firearm and began shooting back.
Peters has since been booked into the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. This incident is still under investigation and charges are forthcoming.
