FILE Chester Co., SC (WOLO) — South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) continues investigating a collision Lance Corporal Lena Butler says claimed the life of one of the drivers involved. According to SCHP the accident took place just before 2pm Thursday afternoon along interstate 77. Authorities say a 2022 Toyota Rav 4 and a 2021 Tractor Trailer Freightliner were both traveling southbound along the interstate when they two vehicles collided. Officials say the driver of the tractor trailer was not injured. SCHP says the same can not be said for the driver of the Toyota Rav 4. Lance Corporal Butler says the driver of the Toyota was transported by EMS to a nearby hospital  to be treated for injuries, but died a short time later. An investigation into what led to the deadly collision is ongoing. Categories: Local News, News
