NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – A total of 334 New Mexican households affected by the South Fork and Salt fires will receive supplemental payments from the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). The payments will go out starting Oct. 3, 2024. To qualify for the Disaster LIHEAP supplemental benefit, households must have received a regular LIHEAP payment from Oct. 1, 2023, to June 25, 2024, and reside in one of the affected zip codes: 88355, 88345, 88346, 88312, or 88340. These federal funds will help New Mexicans living in areas that were included in the Federal Disaster Declaration for the South Fork and Salt fires.
