By Maya Morales and Tyler Wainfeld  Signal Staff Writers  The Felicia Fire in Ventura County is reported to have burned almost 300 acres on Thursday afternoon and prompted the L.A. County Fire Department to send mutual aid to assist the firefighters on the scene.   At 12:42 p.m. on Thursday, the Ventura County Fire Department responded to a brush fire at the 4700 block of Lake Piru Road, according to Andrew Dowd, spokesman for the Ventura County Fire Department.   Initially, the fire was reported to have burned 15 acres and had a rapid rate of spread, said Dowd.   Dowd added that approximately 100 firefighters initially responded to the scene and, as of 4 p.m. on Thursday, there were approximately 210 firefighters on the scene.   Between three to five structures were reported to be threatened in the Piru area and structure protection has been deployed. No injuries have been reported.   Assets from L.A. County Fire Department were dispatched at 1:12 p.m. and arrived on the scene at 1:33 p.m. The Fire Department is assisting with two helicopters and two fire helitankers, according to Luis Garcia, spokesman for the department.   State Route 126 has not been shut down at the time of this story’s publication, according to Officer A. de los Reyes, spokesman for California Highway Patrol Traffic Management.   The fire did prompt Castaic High School officials to cancel all on-site after-school activities after 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, according to a message sent to Castaic High families on Thursday.  “We have been in constant contact with both Ventura County and L.A. County fire departments,” the message reads. Currently, the fire is on the north side of Lake Piru. The only evacuation orders are for the homes and campgrounds near Lake Piru. We have been ensured that there is no immediate threat to Castaic High School.”  Parents were asked to ensure that students were picked up “in a timely manner” on Thursday after school was out at 2:40 p.m.  “We will share any new information as soon as possible if we receive any new information,” the message continued.  The post Smoke from Piru fire drifts into Santa Clarita  appeared first on Santa Clarita Valley Signal.
