TAUNTON, Mass. (WLNE) — The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office said that a 54-year-old former contractor who defrauded a retired Swansea woman out of $25,000 was ordered to pay full restitution. Thomas Furtado collected $25,000 from the victim to install a door and do other construction work on her house. The victim told Furtado that she needed the money back so she could retire. He was placed on pretrial probation and given a court order for full monetary restitution to the victim. Furtado was originally held on $15,000 cash bail. Categories: Massachusetts, News
