BURRILLVILLE, R.I. (WPRI) — An excavator rolled over in Burrillville Thursday afternoon. Charles St. Martin, a spokesperson for the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT), explained that the excavator was working behind a barrier in a construction zone on Douglas Turnpike when it rolled over into the woods. The road remains open and is safe for traffic, according to St. Martin. St. Martin said the contractor will coordinate with the Burrillville Police Department to remove the excavator sometime Friday. The road may be closed temporarily as workers upright the excavator, he added. It's unclear at this time what caused the excavator to roll over. Close Thanks for signing up!
