NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Officers with the New Orleans Police Department have arrested a man in connection with a shooting in New Orleans East on Thursday, Oct. 3. The NOPD initially reported that shots were fired toward an officer who was responding to a service call in the 7000 block of Lawrence Road. Former Tangipahoa Parish jail nurse accused of fraud, perjury According to police, federal agents began investigating an aggravated kidnapping and armed robbery suspect at the location on Lawrence Road, when the suspect, identified as 32-year-old Hector J. Flores, allegedly shot at the agents before barricading himself in an apartment complex. NOPD officials said Robert Russa Moton Charter School was placed on lockdown as a precaution, and police communicated with school officials. In an update, the NOPD reported that Flores had moved to the roof of an apartment building during the standoff, and was later arrested by police and removed from the roof by the New Orleans Fire Department shortly before 6:05 p.m. NOPD officials said no injuries have been reported.
