ARDEN, N.C. (WGHP) -- From small churches to well-known non-profits, western North Carolina needs a lot of support. That's why FOX8 has partnered with the Salvation Army for a donation drive. We're getting an inside look at those donations at work now. FOX8's Gretchen Stenger rode along with the Salvation Army while they were getting to rural and isolated communities. Boxes of supplies will be going to communities in need and the surrounding areas around Asheville. Some families have been left without food and water for days since Hurricane Helene hit their area, and they are in dire need of supplies. A Salvation Army member said they went to a town, and they were the first people the community had seen since Hurricane Helene hit their area. How you can help The Salvation Army is collecting donations to provide "emergency aid, food, drinks, emotional and spiritual care, and long-term recovery services to survivors and rescue workers" in western North Carolina. You can donate using the blue button below. 100% of your donation will go towards Hurricane Helene relief. Donate to support Hurricane Helene relief here
