WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) -- Israel continued launching missiles into Lebanon against Hezbollah Thursday as it weighs how to retaliate against the terror group's backer, Iran. Israeli Defense Forces ordered the evacuation of civilians from southern Lebanon, likely in advance of a larger ground operation. "There's nothing going to happen today," President Joe Biden said. "We'll talk about that later." President Biden is urging Israel to avoid direct hits to Iran's nuclear facilities, just days after the U.S. helped shoot down hundreds of missiles Iran fired at Israel. However, the president did not completely rule out potential plans to strike Iran's oil facilities. "We're in discussion with that," President Biden said. "I think that would be a little... anyway." The U.S. is considering levying its own additional sanctions against Iran, but President Biden would not elaborate. "I'll tell them before I tell you,” he said. The Pentagon has moved thousands of extra U.S. troops to the Middle East. "Their mission hasn't changed," said Sabrina Singh, the Pentagon's deputy press secretary. "They're there to protect U.S. forces in the region." The State Department is organizing flights to get U.S. citizens out of Lebanon as tensions continue to escalate. "We have been advising them to leave for months now," said Matthew Miller, a department spokesperson. Miller said 250 U.S. citizens and their immediate family members have evacuated as of Thursday.
