Buffalo Salvation Army employee leads help for those affected by Helene in Georgia
Oct 03, 2024
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- The Salvation Army has teams deployed to all seven states impacted by the devastating storm, Hurricane Helene. They also have 65 'canteens' that hold hot meals for hard hit areas.
Several of those canteens are in Georgia, which is where the director of operations for the Buffalo Salvation Army, John Hagelburger, was sent to serve as the logistic chief for the Salvation Army Georgia operations.
WIVB News 4's Kelsey Anderson talked with Hagelburger live on News 4 at 5:30, Thursday. He said electricity isn't expected to be restored for another week or two in the area of Lyons, Georgia. He also talked about the biggest needs for residents there.
