BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Rescue Alliance announced they are collaborating with the Florida State Animal Response Coalition (FLSARC) to help the communities that were affected by Hurricane Helene. The storm made landfall on Thursday, Sept. 26 in Florida's Big Bend region and brought devastating flooding, heavy rain and winds to the region. Hurricane Helene caused billions of dollars in destruction across the southeast. The need for immediate support for the affected communities is vital and that is why Rescue Alliance is teaming up with FLSARC, which is a disaster response program of SPCA Florida. According to a news release, the partnership strives to collect and coordinate necessary donations for the affected regions. Louisiana delegation weighs in on call for FEMA funding, flood insurance reform "Our hearts go out to those affected by this devastating hurricane," said Jonathan Henriques, director of Rescue Alliance. "By working with FLSARC, we are able to pool resources and expertise to make a significant impact on the ground and provide immediate relief to communities in need." Pet food, medical supplies, bedding crates and other necessities are vigorously required to help in recovery efforts. According to a news release, donations can be made directly to Rescue Alliance and they will be distributed by FLSARC to the hardest-hit areas.
