BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Denham Springs (3-1) welcomes in the Division 4 reigning state champions of Southern Lab (3-0) in a rare 5A vs. 1A matchup Friday night at Yellow Jacket Stadium. In back-to-back weeks, the Yellow Jackets won with the help from junior kicker, Jonathan Bravo, who has hit a 38 and a 22-yard field goal. Now they'll be tested again by a 1A powerhouse from Baton Rouge. Through the first three games of the season, the Kittens have outscored their opponents 159-29, while averaging 53 points per game. "If you want to build a state championship program, you got to play the Southern Labs of the world," said Denham Springs football head coach Brett Beard. "They're not scared to play anybody. They're really good. They're big, they're fast, they're physical. They know what it takes to win state championships. They're not going to flinch at us. They're not going to bat their eyes. This is just another chance to show off what they are and what they do."
