BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A daycare worker is facing cruelty to juvenile charges after an investigation by the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office.
Deputies responded to Ascension Christian Early Learning Center in Gonzales on Thursday, Oct. 3, about a report of an employee using "unreasonable force."
During the investigation, APSO said they discovered that a daycare worker, identified as 28-year-old Morghan Sanders of Donaldsonville, had "roughly mishandled two young daycare attendees" in three separate incidents.
She was arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail. APSO said Sanders was charged with three counts of cruelty to juveniles.
"We are working closely with Ascension Christian Schools, whose swift response and cooperation helped lead to an arrest," the sheriff's office said.
In a letter sent to parents, Ascension Christian Schools Superintendent Mark Pellegrin said the employee "was immediately terminated, and management initiated the required procedures for reporting the incident."
