AUSTIN (KXAN) — No. 12 Westlake kicks off District 26-6A play Thursday at home against Akins in the KBVO Game of the Week. The Chaparrals had a bye last week after finishing 3-1 in their non-district schedule. Akins dropped its first district game to Dripping Springs 63-0 last week, but they've started the season 3-2 overall after going a combined 0-20 the past two seasons. The Chaps closed their non-district slate with a 41-16 win over No. 21 Cibolo Steele behind 251 rushing yards and four touchdowns on the ground. After dropping its season opener to Travis, Akins ran off three consecutive wins over Cedar Creek, Manor New Tech and Northeast. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and the game will air on KBVO. It's also available via live stream through the NFHS Network, but a subscription fee will apply. Since it's a Thursday night game, it won't be available on KXAN.com/Westlake.
