Photo by Laura Nwogu/The Atlanta VoiceCaring for Others, an Atlanta-based nonprofit on a mission to eradicate poverty, activated an “All Hands Mission” on Thursday in partnership with Convoy of Care to provide relief efforts and supplies for residents affected by Hurricane Helene. Parts of the Southeast are still dealing with the devastating effects of the hurricane that made landfall in Florida a week ago and swept through the Southeast, killing more than 200 people, leaving millions without power, while toppling trees and buildings. According to Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, 33 people have been reported dead in Georgia. The team at Caring for Others left Atlanta Thursday morning with a plan to help victims in Augusta, Valdosta, Nashville, and Sandersville, Georgia, as well as those in North Carolina.
