50-Year-Old Victim Fatally Struck in Two-Vehicle Accident near Avenue 392
CUTLER, CA (October 3, 2024) – Marin Apodaca died early Friday morning, in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 63.
First responders arrived to the scene around 6:00 a.m., near Avenue 392.
Reports indicate that a southbound vehicle rear-ended a truck as it attempted to make a left turn. Shortly after, another driver stopped and exited their vehicle to help clear debris. A passing 2016 Toyota sedan then struck the man, causing life-threatening injuries.
Paramedics arrived and pronounced him dead at the scene. Family members later identified the pedestrian as 50-year-old Apodaca, of Cutler.
Investigators stated that the driver of the Toyota failed to see the man in the roadway. The Toyota driver remained at the scene and attempted to administer CPR.
One other individual from the initial collision was transported to the hospital for minor injuries. California Highway Patrol officers closed Highway 63 between Avenue 388 and Road 128 for further investigation until 8:00 a.m.
The family of Apodaca also started a GoFundMe page to help with funeral expenses during this difficult time.
