A 72-year-old pedestrian was killed while walking in a crosswalk in the Bay Park neighborhood Wednesday night, San Diego police said. The man was walking east on Dakota Drive, crossing Clairemont Drive, about 7:25 p.m. when he was hit by a vehicle, police said. The 76-year-old woman driving the vehicle told police that she had the green light when the pedestrian stepped in front of her, resulting in the crash, police said. The pedestrian, whose name was not released, died at the scene. The crash is being investigated, although police do not suspect the driver was impaired, authorities said.
