NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A railroad crossing in New Kent County has closed due to a crash involving a train and a vehicle on Thursday. According to the New Kent County Sheriff's Office, at around 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3, the railroad crossing at Riverside Drive and South Waterside Drive was closed due to a crash involving a train and a vehicle. The Sheriff's Office reported that there were no injuries. Photos shared with 8News from WAVY 10 On Your Side shows the train next to a damaged truck, trailer and boat. WAVY reported that an Amtrak train heading to Williamsburg and Newport News was stopped after the crash in New Kent County. According to WAVY, a message sent to Amtrak customers said Train 67 would continue to be held as Amtrak personnel worked with local authorities. The train was reported to have been cleared to head out after noon. The Sheriff's Office said the railroad crossing would be closed for an "undetermined amount of time," and any updates to the closure will be passed along to the public.
