MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A man is now in jail after shooting a man and leaving him critically injured during a fight last week in the Nutbush area, Memphis Police say. Jesus Olivo, 29, is charged with criminal attempt second-degree murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony. The victim stated that he was in Jesus Olivo's silver Dodge Challenger with him and two other people. He allegedly asked Olivo to take him home, but when he made it home they got into an argument. Police say the argument between the victim and Olivo quickly escalated into a fight. Olivo allegedly punched the victim who then returned the punch. That is when Olivo is said to have pulled out a black handgun and fired three shots. He was then taken to Regional One Hospital in critical condition. The victim and the two witnesses in the car were able to positively identify Jesus Olivo in a six-person photo lineup as the man responsible for the shooting. Jesus Olivo is currently held in jail on a $100,000 bond. He set to face a judge Friday morning.
