LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department is hosting a free flu shot clinic Thursday, as local officials emphasize the importance of vaccinations following last flu season’s impact. Health officials reported nearly 4,000 lab-confirmed cases of influenza and ten flu-related deaths in Fayette County during the previous season, with approximately 80% of those cases occurring in unvaccinated individuals. Thursday’s clinic is scheduled from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Fayette Mall near Dillard’s. The health department highlights that the best defense against the flu is vaccination. Additionally, a high-dose vaccine for individuals aged 65 and older will be available, but supplies are limited.
