GERTON, N.C. (WGHP) -- Along the banks of the creeks, streams and rivers of western North Carolina rushing from the waters of Helene, are moments and pieces of people's lives. When FOX 8 visited Gerton, a small town in between Asheville and Chimney Rock, our crews discovered photographs covered in mud along the banks of the creek.  They captured sweet moments with a new baby, and a classroom on Halloween.  Our crews were able to reunite the photos with their owner, Tarin Truluck. Those pictures, and most of her home are scattered down the creek. "All of my personal, like my art studio, everything that was important, all the pictures of my kids whole lives, all the documents, it's like okay, I'm here," said Truluck. Surry County farmer using drone to deliver supplies to western North Carolina It's taken her a few days to come to terms with a massive tree lodged into the side of her home.  There's nothing left of her kitchen and dining room.  There's a river now running through her basement. "I probably would have been having coffee on my porch, watching the creek," said Truluck.   Instead, a friend picked her up right after she lost power. "I think it was the first time in my life I ever truly felt shock, it was a feeling that I don't think there's a word for it, to see your whole life that you've worked so hard for just in one fell swoop, gone," said Truluck. She spent Wednesday picking up the pieces of her life alongside family and friends. "I'm alive and there are so many people who can't say that about their family," said Truluck.
