(Courtesy of the Honda Aircraft Company) “Congratulations to Honda Aircraft Company and Piedmont Pennies for winning the 2024 ‘Coolest Thing Made in NC’ title,” said NC Chamber President and CEO Gary Salamido. “Tomorrow is National Manufacturing Day, and we would like to thank our entire manufacturing community for developing innovative and important products for our state, country, and world.” In this competition, Honda Aircraft Company highlighted the HondaJet Elite II, a light jet with "superior performance and efficiency born from aerodynamic breakthrough," the website states. In addition to performance heightened by increased fuel capacity and gross weight increase, the HondaJet II emphasizes an extra level of comfort and tranquility for passengers through a speakerless cabin, offering reduced noise levels. Features include the automatic deployment of spoilers "upon landing or rejected take-off," enhancing take-off and landing performance, advanced steering technology and visual and aural alerts. The jet also has an emergency autoland feature, which activates in an emergency situation to control and land the aircraft without human intervention.
