CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WGHP) — Fans of the Carolina Panthers and the NFL are very familiar with the name Thomas Davis and they may need to get used to seeing it again very soon.
Thomas Davis Sr. of course starred for the Panthers for 14 seasons and was a part of one of the greatest linebacker duos of all time alongside likely future Pro Football Hall of Famer Luke Kuechly.

But did you know that Davis Sr.'s son —Thomas Davis Jr.— is following in his father's footsteps?
Like his father, Davis Jr. plays the linebacker position and is currently a junior at Weddington High School in Matthews.
Davis Jr. has already made a name for himself on the football field as he is currently ranked by 247Sports as the seventh-best player in the state of North Carolina and the seventh-best linebacker in the nation for the Class of 2026.
The younger Davis emerged as a star during his 2023-24 sophomore campaign at Weddington.
He recorded 92 total tackles and 13.5 tackles for loss in 16 games, according to MaxPreps. He also recorded 1 interception, deflected 8 passes, forced one fumble and made 1 sack.
Davis Jr. helped lead Weddington to the 4A state championship last season and scored a defensive touchdown in their 56-21 title game victory over Hoggard High School.
Weddington is currently 5-0 thus far in the 2024-25 season as they seek to defend their state title.
The younger Davis stands slightly taller than his father at 6-feet-2-inches tall and weighs 205 pounds.
He has already attracted a lot of recruiting interest from several colleges.
