CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Charleston Police officers will be deployed to areas in North Carolina that were hit hard by Hurricane Helen and devastating flooding. The officers will assist with security at distribution centers, and provide fuel escorts and public safety around critical infrastructure in Henderson County, Buncombe County, and Fairview as the restoration process begins. “We’ve all seen the devastation in Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina. The rebuilding process will take time—weeks, months, and in some areas, years. In response, countless people have stepped up to help, and our officers are doing the same,” the department said.
