60-Year-Old Weldon Man Pronounced Dead after Motorcycle vs Truck Collision near McCray Road BAKERSFIELD, CA (October 3, 2024) – Stephen Michael Prough died Friday afternoon, in a two-vehicle motorcycle collision on Highway 178. The incident occurred at approximately 5:16 p.m., just west of McCray Road in Mountain Mesa. Authorities stated that the 16-year-old driver of the pickup made a left turn, cutting directly into the motorcyclist’s path. The rider attempted to swerve but lost control of the motorcycle. First responders pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene after being ejected from the bike. The coroner later identified him as 60-year-old Prough, of Weldon. The driver of the Chevrolet remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
